L2 Systems Test Engineer (permanent or contract)

Job Description:

Test Layer 2 Ethernet features for Woven fabric switch product. Design and test cases for Layer 2 features, running in QA environment. Work with customers and software engineers to debug and isolate problems.

Responsibilities:

The candidate will be responsible for testing the functionality of a layer-2 switch. The candidate will be responsible for performing feature and regression testing during the integration and system test phases as well as verification of bug fixes.  The candidate will have a firm grasp of testing methodologies that focus on stabilization, scalability and functional characterization. The candidate will work closely with developers to review software feature requirements, functional and design specifications in order to identify and document applicable test cases.  The candidate will also work closely with TAC engineers to duplicate and diagnose field-reported problems and develop workarounds.

Qualifications:

• B.S./M.S. CS/CE/EE
• Minimum 5+ years of hands-on test development and execution experience with switches
• Must have experience configuring LAN switching equipment into different test bed topologies
  
• Must have experience testing VLANs and LAN Switching protocols (STP/MSTP/RSTP/LACP/LLDP)
• Must have a firm grasp of data plane switching concepts such as hashing, queuing, and QoS
• Knowledge of L2 LAGs, ACLs, High Availability functionality, and security features
• Experience with commercial performance and protocol conformance testing tools
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
• Familiarity developing targeted performance and scalability tests
  
• Linux and automation test development experience is a plus
