Woven Systems Named as Finalist for the Red Herring 100 North America 2008 Award
Santa Clara, Calif. — April 14, 2008 — Woven Systems™ Inc., the leading innovator of Ethernet Fabric switching solutions based on its patented vSCALE™ technology for data centers and high-performance computing clusters, today announced that it has been named as a finalist for the Red Herring 100 Award, a selection of the 100 North American private companies playing a leading role in innovation and technology. In preparation for the formal announcement of its Top 100 Award, the Red Herring editorial board has diligently surveyed the entrepreneurial scene throughout the North American region and out of more than 1200 companies identified the top 200 as leading the next wave of innovation.
Red Herring's editorial
staff chose the finalists after rigorously evaluating several
hundred private companies through a careful analysis of various criteria
including financial data, quality of management, execution of strategy,
and dedication to research and development.
The Woven Systems vSCALE technology features dynamic congestion avoidance by
switching data flows around network bottlenecks in real-time. The company’s
EFX 1000 Ethernet Fabric Switch is the first of a new class of 10 Gigabit Ethernet
(GE) solutions that is setting new performance and scalability standards in high-speed
Ethernet Fabrics for multi-core servers, server consolidation and virtualization,
IP storage, and data center grids.
“This year's impressive list of finalists demonstrates that North American companies continue to raise the bar and produce innovative technologies that benefit the global technology sector,” said Red Herring Editor-in-Chief Joel Dreyfuss. “The exceptional accomplishments of these technology startups are a testament to extraordinary technological innovation and the drive to bring products to fruition.”
Red Herring will gather well over 300 CEOs, venture investors, government officials and senior corporate business development executives to its annual Red Herring North America conference on May 12-14 in San Jose, Calif. As the venue for the unveiling of the Top 100 private companies in North America, it draws unparalleled attention from decision makers and industry observers across the continent.
“We are excited that our company achieved finalist status for this prestigious award,” said Joseph Ammirato, vice president of marketing at Woven Systems. “Ethernet Fabric switches are going to play an instrumental role in data centers of the future, and Woven Systems is gaining momentum with customers deploying next-generation data centers.”
